Yomi - Fighting Card Game Tutorial Video
Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at 10:45AM Those of you who are fans of David Sirlin may be excited to hear that he is designing and producing some card games. The first one (Flash Duel) is already out and is a lighter game of positioning and timing. The next game to be released (Puzzle Strike) is based around the concept of Super Puzzle Fighter II (the console game) but uses mechanics similar to that of the board game Dominion.
The third game in this lineup is entitled Yomi, and that is the game we're taking a look at today. It attempts to recreate the decisions one would make in a fighting game, but removes the elements of timing and dexterity from the equation. What at first appears to be nothing but a glorified Rock-Paper-Scissors (Lizard-Spock?), reveals itself as a deep game of knowing your opponent and knowing yourself. Check out the video after the break.
The video may take a short while to load on slower connections.

Sorry guys, Yomi Print and Play is actually $15. I was thinking of Puzzle Strike, which is $10 print and play.

Really enjoyed this. I really want to play puzzle strike, and now this preview makes me interested in yomi as well
the guide is good on explaining the game, but i don't think you could do more newbie mistakes with grave :) like discarding his 10s playing his 7s as attacks or forgetting to use his innate...
Thanks for the fantastic review, I was pretty unsure of if I'd like Yomi before, but now I am certain. Very well done.
