Tales of Tyria #37: Stream-ception

This week we pull back the curtain to show everyone out there exactly how we make the show.  What hardware do you need?  What software?  How much bandwidth is used?  How do you get started streaming or recording GW2 to post on Youtube?  But first we go over this week's news and feedback from last week.  Stay tuned at the tail end, because after the show we spend another 45 minutes talking about release date speculation and board games.  If you'd like to help the show: Subscribe to us on youtube if you think we deserve it :-)

You referred to the sound being different. I don't know if that guy mentions guns and shells but I noticed that you would get a surprising variety of sounds for the sound of a gun shell hitting the ground. Something so small as a shell falling on wood, stone, snow all creates a different sound. the game would even recognize if i was on the smallest spot of snow on a wooden bridge and give me the snow sound..

Amazing attention to detail.

Also, what about Bandicam? Thoughts?

Jun 25, 2012 at 3:31PM | Unregistered CommenterDagnis

I've never used Bandicam myself. It has a trial, however, if I'm not mistaken. I know all the other programs I mentioned have trials, so you can give it a shot and compare for yourself :)

Also: That's a great point Dagnis. They must have the sound engine tied directly into the texture engine. That's awesome :)

You want to reach the 5k so desperately…where can i subscribe the video podcast via iTunes? I just found the audio version.

BTW: I want to join a new Guild for GW2 but i donna where i can find a nice overview or something with Guilds. Especially with the new worlds and everything it would be awesome to have source to go to and find the perfect guild on my world.

The 5k is for the youtube channel, we hit it this week thanks to everybody's help. We don't have the video on iTunes because I don't have the money to pay for hosting of large video files (the audio already costs me $30 a month). Check out the guild listings on guildwars2guru.com, it's probably the most comprehensive because it is the biggest GW2 forum out there right now. TL also has it's own guild recruitment forums as well.

These shows sure help pass the time between BWE's. So glad we've now got a release date to look forward to, can't wait to hear what you guys make of that.

Keep up the good work. Subscribed and donated.

If you ever do figure out how to edit the XSplit output and cut off the after-show, please upload it seperately. You guys sometimes have some interesting discussions in the after-show, and I'd hate to miss them if I miss the stream.

I've been trying to keep interesting conversation at the end in the more recent episodes. Thanks Sir Twist :)
